Ok, so it's not exactly MAME, but there are quite a few arcade collections / compilations released for the PS1, and if you can collect all of them, you will have yourself a good chunk of original arcade wonderfulness!
As an added bonus, many of them contain FMV video interviews with people who made the games possible, copies of original press releases, copies of original flyers and other noteworthy memorabilia from the games offered, game screen surrounds, access to debug options and even enhanced graphic modes.
Covered in this line up are both official releases and homebrew options.
So jam your pockets full of 10p coins, jump on your Raleigh Chopper / Grifter and lets bike it down to the PS1 classic arcade.

The Retrocoder Collection
Anthony Ball of Double Dutch Designs / Sinistersoft / Deluxe Pixel limited created an excellent set of arcade emulators for the PS1.
These emulate the Space invaders, Galaxian and Phoenix arcade game boards, and will play any romset added that originally worked with these boards.
There is also a menu driven collection of these roms on a CD image called "The Retrocoder Collection". Download it HERE .
These emulators allow you to play:
PS1 Arcade Controllers
And finally, for the authentic experience, why not splash out on a PS1 arcade controller. There is plenty of them about.
I MUST HAVE missed some PS1 arcade collections here, so if you know of more, please comment and I will add them.
UPDATE: I thought that I had found another series of arcade collections in the form of "MEMORIAL STAR SERIES - SUNSOFT Volumes 1 to 6".
Whilst I am not 100 % certain, Sunsoft ported some of their earlier arcade releases to the Nintendo Entertainment System / Famicom, and therefore I believe that these six volumes contain ports of NES/Famicom games rather than arcade games.
